Mental health refers to a person's psychological, emotional and social well-being. It impacts how we think, feel and behave in our daily lives.
2. How Can You Take Care of Your Mental Health?
Think of mental health like a garden- it requires care and attention in order to thrive. We can take care of it by nurturing ourselves with healthy thoughts, having supportive relationships/environments, and building healthy coping mechanisms for managing our emotions. This can also involve taking care of ourselves physically (i.e. sleep, exercise, and nutrition) and seeking professional help when needed.
3. What Causes Mental Illness?

5. How does my lifestyle affect my mental wellbeing?
Physical activity, sleep, social connections, diet, and substance use can all impact your mental health.
6. How can I support others who are struggling and/or myself?
There are lots of ways to help someone or yourself when struggling with mental health. One way is by being a good listener and validating emotions without judgement. We can also show someone we care by checking in and reminding them of their positive qualities. Taking care of yourself should be a top priority when caring for others, so don't forget to set boundaries when needed and practice regular self-care. Sometimes the best support we can offer someone struggling is to encourage them to seek professional help (i.e. therapist or doctor).
